Polymeric drug delivery systems are designed to target a particular active component to a specific place. Use of synthetic materials requires the knowledge of their toxicity. We use the method of the Single Chain Mean Field theory in order to address the question of cytotoxicity of polymers of different structures.

The Method: Single Chain Mean Field Theory

This computational method is one of the theoretical tools exploited in the Molecular Simulation group at the URV. The methodology of the SCMFT is adapted for parallel computation via OpenMP shared memory platform.

Universitat Rovira i Virgili is one of the leading institutions in Spain in terms of research quality and productivity. The doctoral program has been awarded a “Quality Mention” by the Spanish government, indicating a sustained dedication to excellence and the achievement of high quality in research and education. The group has strong computational facilities such as the cluster Kesse, with 160 AMD Opteron cores, including 32 core nodes. The exclusive computational facilities are sufficient to run Monte-Carlo, Molecular Dynamics simulations and solving in parallel equations of SCMFT.

Requirements:
Strong theoretical physics background, good knowledge of computers and programming languages.
